Intercom lets you create and track custom data attributes about your customers, based on criteria that’s specific to your business. A data attribute tracks facts about your customers — like the plan someone is on, or when they signed up.
You might already use this data to filter and create customer segments, and to send targeted messages and campaigns.
On Prodsight, you can use user attributes to segment your tag reports in order to identify user groups most concerned with a particular tag.
Segmenting tag reports
To segment a tag report by a given user attribute, please follow these steps:
- Open your tag list and pick a tag
- Click on the Segment by drop-down and pick a desired user attribute
- A view will refresh to load the segmentation results
Below is an example showing an "iOS Uploading Issue" tag segmented by a custom user attribute "plan_type".
Reading the chart
You will see data represented as an area chart where each area reflects the number of tagged conversations who's participants share the same user attribute value. The chart is very useful in getting a visual high-level overview of the break-down.
In the example above, you can see users who have a Gold plan (orange) were most affected by the iOS uploading issue whilst users who have a Bronze Plan (grey) and Free Plan (blue) were least affected.
Reading the table
Below the chart, you will see a table which indicates how many instances of conversations there were across various time periods.
The table can be sorted by column in an ascending or descending order by clicking on the column header. This allows you to quickly get answers to questions such as:
- Which segment had the most instances in Nov 17?
- Which segment is most popular overall?
- Which segment had the least instances in Sep 17?
